The man and his faithful companion continue walking down the trail until they come to a place with these incredible pearly gates. The person standing inside the gate beckons the man to enter, but motions that the dog cannot come in. The man ponders this for a moment and decides to continue down the original path. Soon the man and his canine friend come upon a beautiful gold gilded archway, and this time there is a man dressed in a white robe, with a long flowing white beard, beckoning for him to enter, but once again the man is instructed that his furry friend cannot come with him. The man, undaunted, decides to continue on down the path. After what felt like a good long stroll, the man comes upon a farmer leaning on a gate, with a piece of straw hanging sideways out of his mouth. The man approaches the farmer and asks if he and his dog can come through the gate to take a rest. The farmer indicates that they can and after noticing that the dog is very thirsty, he advises the man that inside the gate he will find a cup, a bowl and a good drinking water well, where he can draw up a drink for himself and the dog. After the man and dog have quenched their thirst the man turns to the farmer and asks, “Is this Hell?” The farmer responds, “Nope, this is Heaven.

Those other two places you walked past were the gateways to Hell. We keep them there to help weed out those who would choose to leave their best friend behind.”

Closing Thought - The Clock of Life
The clock of life is wound but once,And no man has the powerTo tell just when the hands will stopAt late or early hour.
To lose one's wealth is sad indeed,To lose one's health is more,To lose one's soul is such a lossThat no man can restore.
The present only is our own,So Live, Love, toil with a will --Place no faith in 'Tomorrow' --For the clock may then be still.
